Travelers planning to visit the UAE can now apply for the 6 months UAE visa. The visa is available for entrepreneurs, investors, professionals or genius students. Those who don’t fall into any of the group mentioned can apply for a visa extension without exit to get 6 months in the UAE.

A Breakdown of the 6 Months UAE Visa

The 6 months UAE visa has been divided into 2 categories.


A 6 month UAE visit visa for special category of visitors

Visitors in the UAE can renew their 6 months multiple entry visa to get 60 more days in the country. The visa extension can be done through the ministry of interior e-channels system.

This news was announced by an official spokesperson from the Federal authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) on July 17, 2019.

Eligibility

Investors, entrepreneurs, genius professionals or exceptional students are eligible to apply for the 6 months visa. it is a gateway to a long-term residency visa to the UAE.

The 6 months multiple entry visa gives the applicant a chance to explore the local UAE environment. You can also start the process for long-term visa application while on this visa.


How to apply & Process

  • 3. Your documents will be checked and returned to you if there are any errors
  • 4. Processing of the application starts when all documents are complete

Documents Required

  • Your valid passport
  • A colored photo of yourself
  • Three years bank deposit of at least 10,000,000 AED
  • A bank letter to prove the deposits made
  • A certified financial audit oof the company
  • A verified company establishment contract
  • You need to have 6,000,00 AE or proof of shares worth 10,000,000 AED if there is an additional real estate investment of up to 6,000,000 AED
  • Proof that the investments are not loaned or mortgaged
  • Proof that you are eligible for long-term residency in the UAE. This is for the entrepreneurs and special students

6 month visit visa cost

1150 AED


Renewal

The 6 months multiple entry visit visa is valid for 6 months. To top it all, you can extend the visa once for more 6 months.

When you extend the visa, you get to stay in the UAE for a total of one year.


B 6 month UAE visit visa for normal travelers

Normal travelers are categorized into three.

  • 30 days on arrival nationals
  • 90 days on arrival nationals
  • Prepaid /pre-arranged visa nationals

On arrival nationals are exempted from making any advance visa arrangements as their passports are stamped with a free 30 day visit visa during arrival at any of UAE's airports. The nationals who are eligible for this 30 day on arrival visa are: Travelers eligible for the free 30 days on arrival visa don’t need to make any advance visa arrangements. Their passport is stamped with the visa when they land at an UAE airport.

When your 30 days on arrival visa expires, you get a 10 days grace period. During this time, you can decide to either exit the country or extend your stay.

There are many options to extend you stay in the UAE. Most traveler do an Oman visa run, while others opt for a visa change without exiting the country.

You may also opt to obtain a prepaid visa to extend your stay.

Options to extend your stay in the UAE

  • 1. Get 30 days on arrival visa. together with the 10 days grace period, you get to stay for a total of 40 days. Apply for new visa on the thirty eighth day of your stay without exiting the country.
  • 2. Obtain the 90 days tourist visa even before travelling to the UAE. Together with the 10 days grace period, you get 100 days in the UAE.

Rate for 30 Days On Arrival Nationals

With the first visa extension option you will incur 3100 AED.

When you go with option 2, you will first pay 850 AED for the first prepaid visa. you will pay 2250 AED to apply for the 90 days visa without exiting the country.


How long it takes

The prepaid visa takes 24 to 48 hours to process. A visa change without exit takes 48 to 72 hours to be ready.

Visas are processed from Sunday to Thursday only.

Nationalities of countries listed below qualify for the 90 days free multiple entry visa to the UAE. The visa is valid for 6 months from the issue date.

When 90 days validity expires, you can apply for a new 90 days prepaid visa without exit. This allows you to stay for another 90 days in the UAE.

A prepaid 90 days visa without exiting the country costs 2250 AED.

If you applied for the prepaid visa when entering the UAE, the total cost to stay for 6 months will be 3100 AED. 850 AED for the first 90 days prepaid vis and 2250 AED for the 90 days visa extension without exit.

2024 New rules due to COVID 19

  • December 13, 2023

    Bosnia and Herzegovina nationals are now eligible for the free on arrival visa to the UAE. The two countries are trying to deepen their diplomatic connections and increase the number of tourists to both nations.

  • September 29, 2023

    The UAE announced its plans to implement a GCC visa. This was after meetings within the 6 GCC member countries. The visa will work just like the Schengen visa in Europe.

    When you apply for the visa, you will be able to visit any or all the GCC countries without any limitations.

  • August 20, 2022

    Travelers below 16 years don’t need to take the COVID 19 PCR test before entering the UAE.

  • August 13, 2022

    The standard period to stay in the UAE will be 60 days from the current 30 days. The UAE cabinet explained that this new update would boost tourism in the country.

UAE residence visa rules and regulations 2024

  • The UAE cancelled the grace period for resident visas that expired beginning of march until the end of December 2020.
  • There will be no grace period for Emirates IDs that expired from beginning of march till the end of December.
  • ICA will start collecting administrative fines for any violations mentioned by the cabinet.
  • UAE Citizens, Nationals of GCC countries and expatriates residing in the UAE have up to three months to renew their Emirates IDs or other documents.
  • Citizens, GCC citizens and expatriates who have spent less than 6 months out of the UAE are allowed a one-month grace period to renew their documents.
  • All march to July 11th fines has been lifted.
  • Expatriates stuck outside the UAE with a resident visa that expired after 1st march 2020 and those staying out of the UAE for six months and above qualify for a grace period to return back to the UAE. The ICA will decide on the length of the grace period depending on the current country of residence.

UAE tourist/visit visa rules and regulations 2020

  • Visitors with the on arrival or prepaid visas are eligible to apply for a new tourist visa without exiting the country.
  • Visitors with a tourist or visit visa that expired on march 1st or after we allowed until the end of December to renew their visa.
  • Individuals with an expired UAE visit visa were allowed a 30 days grace period from august 11, 2020 onwards.
  • You will be fined penalties if you don’t exit the country within the grace period.

UAE 5-year tourist visa

The UAE plans to launch a multiple entry five-year tourist visa. This was announced after the first cabinet meeting of 2019 by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, the ruler and Prime Minister of Dubai.

Visitors can enter the UAE several times within the five-year validity duration.

UAE 10-year visa

The 10 years residency visa was introduced in 2019. The visa allows visitors to work, live and study in the UAE without a local sponsor.

You are also allowed to fully own a business in the UAE with this visa. After the first 10 years, you visa will be automatically renewed.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship have launched the Golden Visa program. The Golden visa is a form of business visa. Entrepreneurs seeking to invest in the UAE are eligible to apply for the visa.

If you wish to apply for the visa, submit the official documents to proof your business projects through the website.

The relevant government bodies will look at your application and documents to determine whether you qualify for the visa.

2 years employment visa

Visitors aged 18 and above can travel to the UAE for employment. Applicants must however meet all the requirements to apply for an employment visa.

There is no maximum age limit for visitors seeking employment in the UAE. Employees over 65 years however, pay a larger application fee.

You must have a work permit to legally work in the UAE. Your employer is the one to get you a work permit through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

Employers follow the process below to apply for a work permit :

  • Visit the Ministry of Labour online Tasheel website and print a work permit application
  • Submit all the necessary documents
  • The ministry will review your application
  • You will be asked to correct any errors they identify and submit any missing documents
  • The ministry then approves the application
  • Finally, your employer can download the work permit from the website
