The hospital is located in the North central Province of Sri Lanka. It is the capital of the Anuradhapura District and takes approximately five hours (204 km)from the Katunayake International Airport to reach our destination.

Ayurveda believes that an individual’s body constitution is a unique combination of three dosha-Vata, Pitta, Kapha. Also it is believed that the constitution of each individual is unique and different from one another.

For instance, reflect on your physical characteristics (body frame, skin texture, energy levels); mental and emotional tendencies and daily habits and lifestyle preferences (sleep patterns, digestion, response to stress).

Individuals can be categorized into different dosha types based on their physical, mental, and lifestyle characteristics. If you have a slender body frame and dry skin, you belong to the Vata type, while those with a medium build and a tendency toward warm skin tones fall into the Pitta type. Mentally and emotionally, Vata personalities are often creative but prone to anxiety, whereas Pitta individuals are well-determined yet can experience irritability. On the other hand, Kapha types are generally calm but may struggle with lethargy. In terms of daily habits and lifestyle preferences, people with irregular routines are associated with the Vata Dosha. If you have strong digestion but a quick temper, you are likely a Pitta, while those who lead a slow, steady lifestyle with a tendency toward overeating are identified as Kapha.

Accordingly if you do a careful evaluation of these characteristics, you can understand the type of Dosha that dominates your body constitution. This can guide you towards achieving a balanced life and overall wellbeing.

Panchakarma, a key treatment in Ayurveda, is designed to detoxify the body and restore its natural balance. The word is a combination of two Sanskrit words : “Pancha” ( meaning five ) and “Karma” ( meaning actions ).

As the words suggest, Panchakarma comprises five therapeutic procedures. Those five procedures are :

  • Vamana ( therapeutic vomiting )
  • Virechana ( purgation )
  • Basti ( medicated enema )
  • Nasya ( nasal administration of herbal oils )
  • Raktamokshana ( bloodletting )
