Dependents for a golden visa include your spouse and children regardless of their age. There is no limit on the number of children you can sponsor to the UAE as long as they are below 18 years. Female children can however be sponsored until they get married.
In cases where you are applying for the visa under the outstanding student category, then the dependents become your parents and siblings.
When you apply for a visa even if you are sponsored you will incur costs such as document verification, processing, visa application, medical checkup fee and the cost of getting an Emirates ID.
We will break down the specific costs that you will incur as a dependent being sponsored to the UAE.
Application Fee: This is the initial fee you pay to the UAE government when you first apply to get sponsored to the country. It includes the fees for the application form and initial visa processing. The application fees range around AED 1,150 to AED 1,300.
Medical Examination: Just like the golden visa holders, a dependent must also undergo a medical examination before traveling to the UAE. You will be tested for diseases and infections that are likely to be spread from one person to the other. This is a mandatory requirement and a way of the government to protect its citizens and visitors.
The cost of this depends on where you will do the examination and the tests that you will undergo. However, for most cases the cost is around AED 250 to AED 500 per person.
Emirates ID: When you move to the UAE for long term residency you must obtain an Emirates ID, so that you can have access to government services and also for identification. To get the ID you will spend around AED 170 to AED 370 depending on the period it will be valid for. Emirates ID can be valid for 1, 2 or 3 years depending on the validity of your visa.
Visa Stamping Fees: You will be charged around AED600 to AED 700 for your visa to be stamped in your passport.
Administrative Charge: This is the extra cost that you pay for the administrative services offered by the government. Such charges include the processing fees, document verification and other miscellaneous charges that may come up during the whole application process.
When you calculate the average total cost a dependent incurs when they are sponsored by a golden visa holder, it comes to around AED 2,170 to AED 2,870.
A dependent for a golden visa does not need to meet any financial requirements to be able to apply for a visa.
The primary golden visa holder is the one who sponsors the dependents and so if there is any requirement to have a certain amount of money, the condition is only for the golden visa holder and not the dependent.
You will not be required to show your bank statements or have a minimum balance in your accounts. You also do not need to have any investments or have a loan with a local UAE bank.
As a dependent you can travel to the UAE before applying for the golden visa sponsorship, or do it before traveling to the UAE.
If you want to apply for it while already in the country, you need to get a regular visa and land into the country. If you do not qualify for an on-arrival visa to the UAE, you should then apply for a prepaid visit visa to be allowed entry.
The price for a prepaid visa depends on the specific type of visa you apply for, whether a single entry or multiple entry and how long it is valid for.
If you also opt for the express visa service, whereby your visa will be processed in just 4 hours, then you will pay more than the regular visa prices.
Here are the different prices for the different types of visit visa when you apply with Arabiers for a regular visa and also an express visa.
