UAE nationals and GCC passport holders do not require a visa to enter Oman for short visits. Non-GCC expats resident in the UAE may have different entry requirements depending on nationality and residence status. Best Time to Visit Salalah from Abu Dhabi
The best time to visit Salalah from Abu Dhabi depends on what you want to experience. Salalah is one of the few places in the Arabian Peninsula with two distinct seasons that are both worth visiting — the green Khareef monsoon (July–September) and the warm, dry winter (October–June). Unlike the rest of Oman, Salalah is pleasant year-round from a Dubai resident's perspective.
Khareef (Monsoon)
Salalah's famous green season. The mountains and coast turn misty and lush. Temperatures are a cool 20–26°C compared with Abu Dhabi's summer heat. Peak season — book 2–3 months ahead.
Post-Khareef
Green is still visible and crowds thin out. Excellent value, warm sea, good availability and lower hotel rates.
Winter Season
Warm and sunny at around 25–30°C, dry and ideal for touring. The Empty Quarter desert tour is at its best. Good for families and usually better value.
Pre-Khareef
Warmer at around 30–35°C but still manageable. A useful shoulder season with decent prices before the Khareef rush.
